I'm in the middle of a project (natural gas fire pit) that is expected to be done in a couple of weeks, but christmas is coming up and I'm thinking to make some personalized knick-knacks for xmas.what have you made to give away as xmas presents?(just acquired a mill and some tooling, so i'd like to make something with that)I was thinking of making some name plates (maybe out of 16 gauge alu sheet) for teenage nieces/nephews to hang on their bedroom doors. approx 4"x6"

Reply:I'll post some pictures when I finish, but I'm building 2 chairs for my son and daughter-in-law. My daughter went dumpster diving when University of GA was replacing their stadium seats, and she brought home a dozen or more sets of the old stadium seats.I wish she had brought the frames because it is not easy building a frame to fit the seat bottom and seat back, but so far they look pretty good. I still have to weld some tabs and a brace, then paint them black - looks good with the red plastic seats.Go DAWGS! Reply:I made my wife a chair for her birthday last year. I am making 3 more chairs to match and a table to go along with the chairs. I will use a granite top and 1.5" x 3" 16 gauge tube steel. rectangular steel makes these items unique.
Reply:You could ditch the welding equipment and do some wood working! This is some of my other hobbie work, It's a blanket chest I am building for my sister, She was supposed to get my mothers Maple cedar chest but when my Fathers house caught fire the chest went up in flames so I have been building this for her to replace it. WOW! What a ride!
