I was wondering how to get a good bead with a mig welder? All my beads look like junk. Thanks
Reply:Tough to say from the info you've given. Picts would help. My guess is that your power setting is off in relation to your wire speed. (Usual generic answer.) What are your settings on both? Type of weld flat, horizontal, vertical, thickness of steel? How fast are you moving? As you've probably heard before, it will sound like bacon frying when the ratio of power to wire feed is close. I'd grab some scrap and pick a power setting in the middle of you machines range and then increase/ decrease your wire speed while you listen to how it sounds. See if this improves your welds look.

Reply:I did not know if there is some why to like turn the gun or what to get a good beed? My beads look like globs with wire poking out.
Reply:turn your wire speed down and or voltage up, keep the tip to work distance close, and post some pics and give some info on the equipment  you are useing settings and what not, too many variables that go with it all. a picture is worth a thousand words.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:If you are using solid wire, A.K.A. mig, start by cleaning everything until it looks like silverware.  Mig welding needs to start clean.
