well its been a while since i was on here so in going to post some pics of what i have been up to. hope you enjoy. in this post is a window i made to help the air crew of a helo safly observe the hooking operation during underway vertrep operations, or when the helo carries cargo under itself from one ship to another. before i made this the aircrew had to open a door to watch. Attached ImagesIf you like my stuff you can find me on Facebook.  https://www.facebook.com/theangryanv...ngryanvilforge

Reply:Isn't it crazy that nobody had thought of doing that before? I wonder how many of those guys over the years who had to open the door to see what was going on said, 'Gee, wouldn't it be great if there was a window in the floor of this thing.'So how does that sort of thing happen? Do the air crew say to you, 'Hey, can you make a window in the floor.' And then you just go and do it. Or are there endless forms amd meetings and levels of approval etc. Just curious.Last edited by scott brunsdon; 12-17-2009 at 11:51 PM.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
Reply:Nice idea. Hopefully someone will mention the idea in the right place and you may get a commendation for it. Looks like something that might be useful service wide..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Interesting idea.  There was an existing floor hatch and you made a replacement hatch with a window in it, right?I don't know what the material specifications for use on the Sikorsky MH-60 are, but I think you should check the tech manuals if you didn't already.  Did the helo crew chief input any info to you about materials? Is that glazing material 'rated' for helo use?  IMHO, that thin aluminum sheet that is riveted to the main hatch plate needs:- to have the rough machining smoothed out better (those edges are ROUGH) ;- to have more rivets installed, especially along the 'short' edges of the sheet.Nice idea -  grade A.Some of the machining - Grade CMaterial choices - Grade C- for unknown material grades Attached Images  The best laid schemes ... Reply:Sling loads have to be watched not just directly below but also for what is -around- them.  Maybe that is why the side doors have to be open and a crew member has to lay there and look out the side door.image source:  http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...ch-60-pics.htmother info from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SH-60_Seahawk Attached Images  The best laid schemes ... Reply:You made a tool (the Helo), even better.  Let me get this straight, you designed a new door, so that its use would be practical.  Designers hate that, especially when its done by an experienced journeyman.  Hope your CO is a trade himself, otherwise, there will be a bunch of other people patting themselves on the back;-)
Reply:Im not sure how much air flow youre going to get through the radiator where it is currently.  Though Im sure youve considered all other options already... theres not much of a choice for location.BulletProof Servers for XRumer
