Hi Have this welder GE Model 6WD4Z00AZ Serial 1097VJ , also was this as a Airco GA WASP and a Metal & Thermit 200 amp welder. Would like a owners manual as it runs but when a arc is struck it almost stalls out ??? Running thru a phase converter 3 phase 220 volt which should use 36 amps or 18 amps on 440 volt . Cleaned and checked connections , had 80 open circuit volts now nothing ??? Looking for advice . John

Reply:Here are pics !!! around 1958 from Airco Cat too large a filr to post . Attached Images
Reply:The problem may be the phase converter- they're not really meant to power loads like welders. There may be enough power to show the proper OCV but not enough to strike and run an arc.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Their is a guy close to were I live that runs a motor driven 3ph welder on single ph,It can be done,
Reply:Running it on 15 hp rotary phase converter voltage 241/245/250 . Should be enough ??? |
