Hey guys I have one of these along with a SAM 400. There is a power lug and another set of wires. These 4 wires are an SO type cord. They are supposed to hook up to the SAM 400's junction box.I've personally not used the LN 7 yet. But I have used the welder alot. My question is can this be powered by say a Ranger 8 or Ranger 250. Or are the other 4 wires necessary to the operation of the feeder?
Reply:Hi Big worm I have 4 of those wire feeders. They are extremely durable and tough. You do need to hook up the wires in the SO Cord. If I remember right 2 of them are 120 volt to poer the feeder motor and gas valve. The other two are the control wires for the contactor in the welding poer source. If your LN-7 also has a meter there could be a fifth wire that hooks ot the gound lead. I think that is where it goes. If you look on Lincolns website and put in the code # you can download a manual.
Reply:Forgot to add the mewer machines have gone to amphenol plugs. If the Ranger 8 or 250 have thewe it should run on it. You could also research that on Lincolns website.
