question about acetiline?

On my oxy/acetaline torch when i turn the acetaline tanks on and ajust the 2nd the 1st remains at zero can any one tell me why? thanks
Reply:I don't understand your question, if your tank has some accetelyne in it, the right gauge should read tank content, the second gauge you should turn the t-handle clockwise until you get the desired level for the tip and cut you are about to make, if it doesn't read anything, you may have a defective gauge.Guy_48Welding is an art......Millermatic 252Lincoln SP175PlusLincoln 225 AC/DC
Reply:either the tanks empty or the guage is no good.  they sell replacement gauges, unscrew the old one, screw the new one in.Acetylene is the proper spelling, not that it really makes a difference, just so you know.
Reply:I was using it at night so i may go out today and check it at night. it is an new old reg. that had been working right a while back. It just seemed odd the athe 1st read zero and the second read 20. thanks
Reply:20 psi is WAY to high for acetylene, never run it past 15, it becomes unstable and can combust with no outside ignition source.

Reply:The first gauge is designed to read high pressures relatively accurately.  Once you drop below a certain level, the guage just doesn't have the tolerance for accurate measurements.  You apparently had enough left to get a good reading on the low pressure gauge, but your tank will truly be empty soon.
