Has anyone seen this helmet for sale anywhere in the states? I've only seen it online in Europe. I'm guessing England since they were for sale in pounds. Anyhow, it looks pretty badass. It looks comparable to the Miller Digital Elite.Do what it takes to get the job done right.
Reply:Esab Aristo Tech. Just in case people didn't see it in the title.Do what it takes to get the job done right.
Reply:I figured it out. The Aristo Tech isn't marketed to the United States. I finally found where it's at on the ESAB site under United Kingdom. Bummer for me i guess.Do what it takes to get the job done right.

Reply:I have the origo tech and I really like it. I emailed Esab and asked them if that helmet will masked it's way here. If not i'll just have to find a welding supply in the UK, or someone who lives there, that can ship it to me.Do what it takes to get the job done right.
Reply:Hey guysJust saw this thread and thought I'd share my experience of the Aristo Tech.Bought one and had to return it due to it's rather baffling behaviour. It displayed the following traits:Even after leaving the helmet out in the light for 20 minutes, as recommended in the instructions, it still displayed the following faults.1) Pointing the filter at a light source (including the sun) does not make the filter auto-darken. Despite being on it's most sensitive setting.2) Unless you wave your hand in front of the sensors first.3) It only seems to stay dark for as long as you have the delay timer set. Yes, this is even when it's still pointed at the light source. So, timer is set for 0.1, it stays dark for a fraction of a second, 0.5 about half a second and so on.  In short, you put it on and look at the sun, nothing happens, unless you wave your hand in front of it. Then it gives you a perfunctory blip of darkness before returning to it's 'unshaded' state.According to the instructions this doesn't sound right. The supplier swears blind there's nothing wrong with it. Obviously they can't both be right, can they? In the words of the erstwhile Mr Scott The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

Reply:It says to leave it in the light for 20 minutes for the solar cells to fully charge if it's been sitting in the dark for a long time. It's been sent back and they can't find the problem. However, after doing a bit of digging on the web I've read that allegedly a constant light source, no matter how bright, can 'fool' the sensors whereas the light given off by welding is interrupted, thus making it go dark.It would explain a lot if true, but it's still at odds with what Esab themselves put in the literature. They just say use a light source.

Reply:I bought an ESAB 9-13 helmet 8-9 yrs ago, cost me $400 cnd then. It was light and I really liked it until it quit working 1 month after the 1 year warranty. I now use it for  plasma cutting hood as it no longer darkens.Leo
Reply:I just picked up the New-Tech 9-13 but have not had a chance to try it out yet, I do like the feel of the helmet andthe head gear so i hope the rest works out the same
Reply:It certainly explains why they're not to be used for gas welding. They just won't light.Don't make life easy do they? Fingers crossed we've got to the bottom of that one at least! Well, we hope.......I've sent them an email telling them to post it back. I'll give it a try with the MIG. TBH, I should have tried it before sending it back but the last thing I wanted was to return it covered in welding spats. Never mind the instructions said I shouldn't even think about it.Badly written instructions are the bane of my life.

Reply:On the inside of the Aristo it's specifies MIG/ MAG, TIG, stick, but not oxy.Interesting that. Hopefully it'll all come out in the wash, I've been able to check the shade variation well enough and the lens is much clearer than my old Eye-Tech. It is a very nice piece of kit, if possibly spooky in operation.I'll let you know how it works out.
