I am working on a tube bender project which calls for some Thompson Shafts to be used.  I wanted to know if I can TIG weld on some small pull handles to this stuff.  If so, what kind of filler should I use?  Same as steel 70-S2?Also, what is th best method to cut this since it is case hardened? Thanks in advance!Build a Barstool Racer at BarFlyRacers.com!
Reply:Honestly..I've never welded Thompson Shafting to anything..I'm guessing it won't work because of the hardness..However the hardness is only about .020 thick and if you get to the "Soft Underbelly" I imagine it will be OK..Chopsaw with a carbide wheel is the cut off tool of choice...Or a slow R.P.M. coldsaw.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
