I was just wondering if it would be possible to move the internal tig cooler on my 05 miller sync 250 DX to the outside of the machine to a cart or table instead of having to spend the money for a coolmate 3x? The machine will be stationary.I am not having any problems now but the first problem could be the one that takes my machine out.Or if this will not work could i just use a regular coolmate 3 off to the side of the machine.Thanks.GuyHypertherm Powermax 30Miller Syncrowave 250 DXMiller Challenger MigDevilbiss 60Gal 6hp Air CompressorCentury A/C D/C 225/140 Welder
Reply:Contact Miller directly.I heard rumors that Miller had some issues with the integral coolers (not sure what years) and they developed a few work-arounds.  SundownIII might know as well.I don't remember if the cooler will actually 'take out' or damage the welder itself.  I seem to recall issues with pumps or solenoids.  Again, my first call would be to Miller. As for using another cooler.  Technically speaking the cooler is separate from the machine as far as functionality goes.  If you can hook your torch to the cooler you are set.  My LWS stocks the fittings and will make custom length hoses so that everything bolts together clean.Personally, I'd just verify that the cool is not leaking, use a decent anti-freeze - search the web for best prices on the Miller's stuff. For coolers, I like the Radiator 1's design the best.  One big (overkill) electric motor driving the pump and fan with a site glass visible from the front.  The bad part is changing out the the fluid (or worse, cleaning out the tank itself) (no drain plug - but at least the tank can be disassembled).  I'm not sure about cooling capacity, but for the relative thin stuff I do, never been an issue.  I disassembled mine and used clear RTV everywhere to seal it all up.  Never leaked and if I spilled filling it (oh yeah, that's an issue as well) it wouldn't get behind the front panel.   The previous owner had kept the cooler on top of the Dialarc and something had eaten the paint on the Dialarc.  I assumed anti-freeze spilling or leaking.  So I stripped both the welder and the cooler, repainted everything and vowed never to let that happen again (hence the RTV).  10 years, no problemsCon Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX

Reply:I did call miller and they said that you can not take the internal cooler and move it outside, but you could use the coomate 3 and disconnect the internal cooler and that would be cheaper than going to the coolmate 3x.I just posted this here to see if anyone had already tried to do this mod.I know some of you guys on the forum know some tricks on how to get around things,so i thought i would give it a shot. Thanks anyway.GuyHypertherm Powermax 30Miller Syncrowave 250 DXMiller Challenger MigDevilbiss 60Gal 6hp Air CompressorCentury A/C D/C 225/140 Welder
