flux core?

I just bought a firepower 130 fp. I am running .030 flux core wire. Not familiar with flus core , is it best to push or pull when welding with flux core? Thanks , Randy

Reply:Thanks for the replies. Been welding since 1997 and never welded with flux core. Tested the machine before I bought it and I pushed the puddle, looked good but didnt slag over the top much. Thanks, Randy

Reply:Typically I drag flux core.   But when I get to certain spots I will go straight in or push.  On the flatbar stiffiner I dragged the puddle.   for the overhead I pushed the weld in because the type of weld I am doing and cosmetically I want it to look flat.  Second picture I Dragged and Dragged  Flat is much easier.  Out of position it depends on what the weld joint looks like. Reply:I appreciate all the feedback on fluxcore welding. Great pictures too. I pretty much just wire weld anymore, steel and aluminum, in a trailer repair shop. every now and then i get to do a little steel tig welding which is something else I want to get back into. Up until the last four months or so I was in management for the last eight years, tryin to get back up to speed. Thanks, Randy
