Has anybody ever tried anything to waterproof mag? I can't start my machine on rainy days hardlyJunk Iron Welder
Reply:Look at a local auto parts house. They should have an aerosol silicone product. I have used it before on distributors and plug wires to seal out water. I have used it on trucks to seal the ignition system and gone thru water deep enough to drown out others that did not have this treatment on them.Just make sure everyting is clean and DRY,DRY, DRY before applying. Spray it anywhere you suspect there is ANY CHANCE of moisture entry. Around plug boots, plug wires, anyplace two parts mate up, just coat the whole thing. If you take anything apart, respray after reassembly to seal again. I can't recall the name right off, but if you ask, they should be able to fix you up. If they don't have it check around for others. This stuff drys clear, so after aplying you can't even tell it's on there.People who have snorkel kits on their four wheelers and ride thru deep water use this to seal the electrics to keep them dry. So if you can't find it at an auto parts place check at a ATV dealership service dept.
