Ok guys I am welding with 6011 on DCRP. How do I fill the crater that gets left behind on my welds ??? My instructor told me that once I get to the end of the weld to tip my rod so im pushing my weld. (or atleast thats how I understood it).Oh and any tips for elimintating undercut on fillet welds ? Thanks
Reply:to help eliminate undercut it depends on motion like for me i tend to go up and down so if i gt undercut i stay at top of weld longer then bottom if that makes sense and i dont have much expierience with 6011 so sorry about that one6G zirconium 702 GTAW 2" xxheavy6G P.E.D. carbon steel GTAW 2" xxheavy3G titanium Gr. 2 - Gr. 7 GTAW up to 3/4" 3G 316L stainless GTAW up to 1" 3G carbon steel GTAW up to 1" 3G Hastalloy GTAW up to 3/4"1G tantalum GTAW up to .060"
Reply:Just pause and count. The time will determine how well the crater is filled. DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:When I replay the scene in my minds eye, I see the arc force melt a crater first, then over the next few split seconds, the filler metal must be allowed to fill the crater that was formed. When the puddle fills in the crater, then I move. That happens for each bead along the length of the weld.City of L.A.
