hi guyslooking for someone who sells the 680 tig rod. brands that i know of are tig-tectic or eutectic.i've tried contacting eutectic direct to find a dealer, but got no reply. preferably an online source.thank you bear

Reply:I use 680 stick or ESAB Allstate (same thing) to take out broken bolts.  I use the tig wire to weld springy things or tools.  It flows like butter.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:David,I do weld repairs to boiler burner housings, and use either 3/32" MG 600 or 3/32" Allstate 275S Super, once they gave us 680 to use bcause of lack of stock of the MG 600 or the 275S, it was the worst housing job we ever did, according to the product sheets, they are all the same, but they are just enough different to cause problems in the boilers. The only repaired housing that resplit after it was repaired. There has been some minor supply problems geting Eutectic rods, after Eutectic was bought by MG awhile backJackLast edited by platypus20; 06-15-2008 at 03:51 PM.
Reply:680 is ER 312-16 (312-17) stick electrode or ER 312 TIG rod... I am sure, they are not producer, just reseller.Why don't you try to contact directly one of the best producers of repairing electrodes in the whole world. It is Selectrode from US. They produce for almost all chief brands in US and for several brands worldwide. They have several types 312-16 electrodes... Get them and ask for the best electrode...Also I can recommend Bluemax2100 by Lincoln... Why do not you try? Why pay 3-5 times more money for the same product?
Reply:I use 3/32 eutectic 680 to build up broken off bolts inside things.  The slag makes a ring in the hole and the weld is strong when I weld a nut to it.  I have yet to find a rod that works as well for that application.The tig wire is nice.I am lucky I can get it at my LWS.DavidDavid.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:i can get it at my lws also, but they want almost 600.00 for a 10# box of tig rod. i prep alot of desert race cars. i like to use this rod for cracks. never had one re-crack with this rod.
