Hi dears, I have just a little question...I often see beautifull welding with nice colors... but mine are crappy... I try to weld stainless steel with pure argon and my welds look like that... Then... why ??Thx in advance.

Reply:Your supposed to use a mix of argon and co2
Reply:Hmmmm... I don't think the pure argon is his problem. How about a little more detail, material thickness, grade, filler, machine settings, etc...Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!

Reply:Hi, thank for anwser...Solder is " welding ", sorry for my english... So, I use TIG welder to do those weldings, 2% Thoriated Tungsten (Red Tip), Arcal1 as gaz ( pure argon ), +/- 6 liters /minute.316L stainless steel as filler metal. The metal on the picture is from a beer keg, I think it's 316L too.

Reply:I hope, well I'm sure you mean 6 liters an hour right? From the pictures, my best guess would be that you are pulling the filler wire too far away from the puddle between dips. If you pull the filler out of the sheilding gas while it's hot, it will oxidise and then transfer that oxidation to your weld.Hey Broc, don't beat yourself up. I wasn't sure myself.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!

Reply:this is exactly my problem too. dont feel bad about your weld. I've been practicing but a clean stainless weld is very hard for me. I would love to actually see it done correctly.
Reply:So, looking back at his numbers he is around 12 CFH- too lowPerhaps bump up the Flow rate to 10-11 L/mn = 20-22 CFHEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge |
