Reply:Wow. What a great winter project. What will you do with it when you're done?Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
Reply:I'm not much of a tractor historianWas that model converted to run on iron during the War years production?  I know a lot of tractors came on iron due to the rubber shortage during the War.Another interesting thing.  War Years IH's had a weird paint makeup.  Something about the pigment, or the metal going into the pigment.  It was rationed.  An early 40's IH will fade to orange as it ages.  Many people are fooled into thinking some components on these tractors aren't original, specially the gas tank.  They think it's an Allis tank retrofitted to the IH"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Maybe he'll take it out for Sunday drives. I like the idea of a dual seat.I sometimes envy the winters some of you blokes have. It must be great at times being forced indoors to work on garage projects. Must be a pain at times, too, I guess.Where I am, winter doesn't have a huge impact.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.

Reply:Did ya use some kind of a jig to weld up the steeing wheel? My crooked eye couldn't get it that round and the hub centered so well.I would like to see your method of doing that.I got a rotten old wheel on a forklift and I thought about doing a chain wheel for it.ThanksMack

Reply:I did mess up . the factory welds on the chain should have been on the back side. I forgot to look at that when I was setting it up
Reply:Originally Posted by scott brunsdonI was going to mention that. Duanne probably was, too.So they had welded chain wheels originally did they? Why do you reckon they had them? I'm just curious.
