I'm 15 and got a Miller welder for Christmas and over spring break I got my first job, to weld sides on a finishing pan, for maple syrup. I put sides and a bottom on the pan for brick insulation. The only thing I did not do was the Plasma cutting our friend larry did that. I worked for a farmer down the road(In the picture) from our hunting camp. The welds were not pretty but the were strong. The payment was better then $$$, a mason jar of fresh all organic 1 day old syrup. Attached Images"The most important thing about the job is getting the job done"
Reply:What a great deal. My first job, about thirty years ago was welding a new handle on a lawn mower. In exchange I got to pick pears off the guys tree. They were really good pears.
Reply:Yes indeed! Some time age an old lady about 80 came in with a broken meat grinder. I couldn't turn her away, fixed it and didn't charge her. Next week she came back and dropped off about 5lbs of the best homemade boudin I have ever ate. Gotta love south Louisiana.Peter

Reply:Good Work! If you wanted maple syrup, you should have just asked. I would have sent you some "real" stuff from Canada! I'm just teasing, but Good work on that! I wish I learned how to weld when I was your age!
Reply:Fine business on your first job! I hope you like your new Miller 140AS, and get a lot more welding jobs.Take Care,John
Reply:Haha thanks Thanks J. Stunck The guy drove down to NC with 200 gallons and only sold two gallons the price was to high and the quailty was not the best. He got all drunk one night and poured 298 gallons out. he wanted 55/gallon he could have at least got 40/gallon goes to show what being drunk all the times does to ya. He had the product but not the business aspect of it quess."The most important thing about the job is getting the job done"
