I have a Tweco Mig Gun on a Thermal Arc Fabricator 190, It's manual states that the torch is either a mini gun or a Tweco #1, the local welding supplier cannot locate the insulator (consumables) for the gun.It is the insulator that goes behind the nozzle. It looks like a thick fibre washer, almost like a water hose washer, except not.The supplier ordered me the insulators from Ontario. But they are the wrong ones(way to long) and I am in an isolated part of Alberta.I went to Acklands-Grainger where I bought it and they cannot find the Part No either(kids), anyone have a Part No. they can help me with?Last edited by pistolnoon; 10-30-2008 at 08:59 PM.
Reply:Here is the Thermodyne site you can look at to find what you need. Browse around until things match properly, I guess.https://www.mythermadyne.com/thc/en/...atDisplayStyle
Reply:Thanks but we already went that route, also downloaded the manual where it shows the breakdown; it clearly shows the part I need, but we cannot get a part number to order one, so when I came home I took some 12 hour epoxy, and epoxied it together and wrapped some friction tape around it, and carefully screwed it on in case it breaks there will still be the pieces to keep it insulated, the nozzle butts up against it. Almost looks like I may have to take the long one(check ID) and section it where the three rings are around it to make one.Contact Thermaldyne?
Reply:If you can copy the parts breakdown diagram on this thread,  I might be able to get the number for it next week. I have a Tweco #2 but don't recognize the part from your description. The insulator mine uses is a long fiber tube with three circumferential grooves which snap rings fit into. It is nothing like a washer. Are there any numbers on your gun to identify it by? I don't know the mini-gun; I don't keep track of newer products much. The T.#1 is just a smaller version of #2, but there are different options for nozzles et all for most model torches.
Reply:Thanks, no, it is not those, I have those insulators, they are wrong, I found out the problem, the reason they ordered the wrong part was the manual literature was wrong and so I downloaded all the doc literature Thermadyne has and then recognized it from images, they had the wrong gun listed under their manual, maybe a canadian/us type of thing? The part No is: doclib_2833_Spitfire -  180 Weldskill Spitfire 180 Part No 63J3,1630-1121
Reply:I think its a #23... I am just a little confused though.. What is the Part # on the nozzle?? Unless I am screwed up it should be a 21-50.. The screwy thing is the 21-50 is a screw on nozzle!! If the insulater came out of it, you should be able to replace the nozzle.. If not is a 23 Series Nozzle and a #23 insulator.. If you can upload a pic of the end of the gun and I will help if I can..Carl
Reply:The nozzle does not have a part no, it is a screw on nozzle; copper-ceramic-copper threaded, the part I need is the insulator that backs this up and keeps it tight to the goose neck. I found the part No from Thermadyne Doc:doc lib_2833_Spitfire 180.pdf download (top) to be PN 1630-1121 and from a Spitfire 180. Not 250.(Going through all the guns one at a time) A lot of people have not heard of this part, or get confused as to its purpose, and send the slip on type you describe, but all other parts are interchangeable on the Spitfire guns, diffusers, consummables.Note differences in break-aways pictures. Here is a picture from the manual. Thanks, I am a journeyman and it is one of the best machines I have ever used. Reply:I will look it up at my office tommorow, and see if I have it available through either Tweco, or the Southweld line. At least I could give you a suggested retail.. The Part # makes it easy, I am expecting a busy day, but I will let you know as soon as I know..Carl
Reply:Can you check to make sure this is the right part No?I have to go into my supplier(Arrow) on Wednesday, but they will probably have to order it from Ontario.Learned a lesson about not having a good selection of consummables handy.ThanksLast edited by pistolnoon; 11-02-2008 at 11:40 PM.
Reply:I struck out something awful.. That part # isn't listed under southweld (aftermarket) and I couldn't find it Through my supplier at all.. I won't give up, I just wanted to give you an update.. Do you know if the lead has any numbers on it? Carl
Reply:Try it with these no's only for Tweco "1630-1121"Thanks
Reply:That actually what I tried.. I will call thermal Dynamics tomorrow and plead for help.. They usually are really good about trying to keep their customers happy..  I will let you know somthing tomorrow.. I've pulled every chart I can find at the store, and I still can't find a breakdown on that gun, thats even close to the one you had. Carl
Reply:I contacted Thermodyne customer service(Canada) and they give me Part No TWE 1630-1121(see copy for sku) or 1620 prefix at $8 each and they have them in stock so I am going to order a few, it is likely a bag of three. They say that on the torch cable assembly the amperage is indicated for exact part number as it can be one of two types of Insulators. The 1630-1121 looks like a Twe 1320-1125 insulator cut into three! The parts breakdown they give is exactly the same as what I have already shown so it would be redundant to post.Going to contact Arrow welding in Edmonton and see about stock and getting them delivered.
