Here's another example of using UHMW as an insert inside 1.5" square aluminum tubing, with the UHMW covering 1" square tubing. This is a blind cleaning system, adjustable to accommodate any size of blind and handle multiples of them. (These pics taken in 2008, after 7 years in service.)The wash rack is pictured in  the first set of pics, the two drying racks in the secondset of pics.Wash rack--has UHMW on both vertical, detent posts and on the horizontal cross bar-crossbar has elongated slots at the vertical post attachment point, to allow for some angularity of the bar as the two, lower hinged, detent pin covers are swung out of the detent holes (red circles), then the outer tube is slid up to the next detent hole.System was installed in new commercial building and we had the contractor install 1" plywood plating in the attachment areas, prior to being covered with fiberglass paneling. Drying racks attachment points are into plating and 6" stud walls. Bolted attachments via brass threaded inserts made for wood. SS sealing washer used, plus sealant underneath attachment plates. All hardware is aluminum or SS.Please give me a little time to get the second set of pics posted, before any comments.http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853336http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853336http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853336http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853336http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853336 Attached ImagesBlackbird
Reply:Blind drying racks.25 x 3" SS flat used for the forks. To move or remove the fork, the handle is turned to back out the threaded shaft from the welded nut in the rear plate. Nylok nut on the threaded portion, rear of the fork, is to retain the spring loaded handle.http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853816http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853816http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853816http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853816http://weldingweb.com/attachment.php...1&d=1272853816 Attached ImagesLast edited by dave powelson; 05-02-2010 at 10:34 PM.Reason: correctionBlackbird
