Well, I went to Phoenix yesterday and had a great time. I got to go to the Lincoln facility where they have a lab set up with all the machines and that was fun because it was just me, an instructor and the Lincoln Factory Rep. Then back to the shop to load my truck up with the new rig. The factory rep and the LWS gave me some swag too! Reply:Niiiicccee... (checking machines).. we have 2 powermig 300's.. but they dont have the plugin on the back. You'll like that machine alot... But I never could get it to spray uphill on pulse.. not sure what I was doing wrong.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

The 350 is basically the same as the 300 except for a few extra amps. Now go check out the Power Wave C300!! It will do everything the 300 and 350mp do PLUS it will do pulsed DC Tig!DeserRider33, No double bottle rack. They gave me such a smoking deal that if I had even asked for the double bottle rack they may have kicked my azz on the spot. The difference in the Python and the Python plus appears to be just that with the PLUS model you do not need a gun adapter to plug it into the machine. Looks like they went and put a Lincoln end on it. I used to shop at AWECO in Sunnyslope (the slop) when I lived in Phoenix years ago.I've never used a 50' Python but the 25' ones work fine. Reply:Oh yeah, DesertRider33, the Python Plus gun has Synergic capabilities. You can control the dial settings on the machine with the dial on the gun handle of the Python Plus. AND you can do it in the middle of your weld, no need to stop and adjust. FarmerSamm,You can hook up a laptop computer inside that lid and communicate with the machine for settings and some other stuff. You can download welding parameters into it. I don't know why they put the mouse there though. The unit has a DB-25 connection in there. Reply:I think most push-pull guns with the wire speed control on the gun and a 7-wire connection to the machine do control the wire speed of both the gun and the feeder from the control on the gun. That is how my Cobramatic, XR and 350P push-pull machines work. There actually is no wire speed control on the Cobramatic feeders at all, it's only on the gun. Same with the XR feeder. The 350P obviously has a wire speed control on the machine, but it is inoperative anytime a push-pull or spool gun is attatched and being used. The gun speed control is the only one the machine will recognize at that time. I have had both the spool gun and the regular mig gun connected at the same time with steel wire in the machine and aluminum wire in the spool gun and alternated between welding aluminum and steel just by picking up the right gun and pulling the trigger. The machine automatically knows what gun you're using and sets itself to whatever settings you had last time that gun was used, including the pulse programming, if you had that turned on last. I'm sure your machine has the same capabilities that way too.Your machine I think can operate in pulse both synergic and conventional, whereas mine will only synergic pulse, which means I can't set the voltage in pulse mode, only the wire speed, the machine automatically sets the voltage. I can trim the voltage setting though with the arc-length adjustment to make the puddle hotter or colder.You have a very nice machine there, for sure. Reply:Joker11, Brianstick, The machine I have is very hard to set right in either convential or pulse. If and when you finally get it set it does a fair job of welding. With CO2 it seems to weld dirty, with 75/25 it throws a lot of splatter. I got it to replace a MM 252, its not even close. Last job we used it on we had it, MM252 and a Trailblaser with w VS feeder. All running .045 70S6 with CO2 on 3/8" plate. It would not keep up. Remember this is my opinion, just like belly buttons and but holes, everyone has one.
Reply:Finney,FWIW, we just got a Power Mig 350MP, and are doing pulsed MIG on steel door frames (16 & 14 gage) using the settings shown on the chart inside the wire feeder compartment. When we first got the machine to replace an old Miller unit, we were using 75/25 and were getting lots of spatter on pulse. Worked fine for short-arc. After a little research, I decided to try 85/15, and that mix has been working well for us on both pulse and short-arc. I think the pulse would work a little smoother with a 92/8 mix, but not sure how it'd work for short-arc.

The pulse on pulse is very slick if youre steady with the torch.Ive had my PM300 since 2002 (before Lincoln put the chopper technology badge on the front).I think the difference between the 300 & 350 is the added crisp pulse programs (faster rise like Miller) that the owner can add to the 300 if wanted, and better tuning for the Power Mode (STT emulation). Also the closed loop WFS system is improved. As for power mine is 350A @ 40%, 300A @ 60% and 230A @ 100%.I did toss the sledge hammer sized torch for a Binzel Alpha (there on everything I own). I use C10 for pulse and spray, and Co2 for all short circuit steel welding. If set well I can take .035 S-3 wire at 550IPM using Co2 with very little spatter (200-210amps). Ive put a ton of wire through this thing & still going
Wow Finney! For the money you paid for that machine Id have the Lincoln folks in and get it straight. If it cant weld with the Millermatic at the price difference they should take it away. I usually have the arc-control set from -2 to -4 when welding with co2 at higher amperages and it wont sound like the Miller at similar settings. I also use E70 S-3 when using Co2.MattCongrats on the 350.........Love mine wouldn't trade it for the wife and kids...lol (well maybe my boy).......They are great machines. I work for Athletica (they make Hockey Rinks and carts)...My teacher said the only drawback is the best aluminum wire for this machine is the Lincoln SuperGlaze nothing else seems to give as good a finish on this machine where as other machines you can use a lot wider range of AL wire..I have a miller syn250DX and a little miller wire feed.. now I want one of these... very jealous
