Need good close-up tig videos...

And so far I haven't found any.  I'm looking for good, close-up TIG videos (mostly on steel) that are shot through a shaded lens so it looks about like the welder would see it.  So far every vid I've looked at on you tube is without a shade, and they are way too bright to see what's actually happening.  I want to show this to a group of about 15 students, which would take forever one on one and still be hard to make sure they are seeing it as well through a helmet.We have some really good dvd's of Mig and stick that show amazingly clear what is going on.  But, none on tig...Any ideas?Thanks!Jason
Reply:Hey Jason,Check with Hobart, Lincoln, or Wall Mountian Company. I have some VHS from Wall Mountian and they do close ups (through a welding lens) but I dont know if they have a TIG video out yet. I know you can buy one from Hobart and it will be top notch. I took a TIG class at Hobart back in 93 and they had good video ( through a welding lens) then with close up of TIG.Waldo
Reply:You just want a minute or so of TIG welding on mild steel with a good view of what's happening in the puddle for educational/non-profit use? I think we can do that.IIRC you aren't too far away from me (I'm in Roswell GA). If you'd like to aim the video cam while I weld, or vise-versa we could do that. I think I have all the supplies you would need, but a third hand would almost a necessity for shooting close up on a moving weld.  I have a Dynasty, a couple of helmets, an auto dark lens, and a cheap video camera. I'm willing to volunteer my time. How soon do you want to make this happen?-Matt------------------------------------------

Reply:Hello Guys - thanks for the responses.  We actually have Wall Mountain videos in the classroom that cover Mig, Stick I, II, and III, oxy fuel welding, and oxyfuel cutting but no tig.  Those videos are really good except for them telling and showing you to run vertical mig downhill...  The clarity is great though!Yes, I'm just looking for really good clear video of what's happening with the puddle, arc length, filler movement, etc, that I can show the entire class at once on the projector nice and big.  Next quarter one of my classes is "Motorsports Welding" which will focus on steel tig, then aluminum and also some mig.  I'm not sure how many students I'll have, but probably be around 10 - 15 mostly not far out of high school and mostly not have any welding experience...Thanks again guys!Jason

Reply:Thanks Craig - I just yesterday found a drawer full of VHS welding videos to use.  None of them are Hobart since we were nicely equipped by Lincoln, but I have plenty to preview over the holidays and think there ought to be some good material on them.
