I'm looking at getting a new TIG Ive been looking at Millers Maxstar 150STH ,Esabs Tig caddy 150i and Thermal Arcs TA160ST basically anything but another Chinese P.O.S.They all have a lot of the same features but I'm just not sure which one would be best for what I need , basically I'm going to be using it for auto fabrication ( Headers, Turbo Manifolds ,Exhausts ,Intercooler piping...etc ) no aluminum I know I'd like to have hi freq start ,remote amp control and maybe a pulsed setting and in the 150A range for the portability any help deciding would be greatFire Power FP160 migHarbor Freight 165 amp tig w/ foot pedalLincoln AC 225Victor O/A
Reply:Buy new or used?I got a super deal on a syncrowave 250 about a year ago. It was used but came with two torches water cooled and air cooled. I coulnt be happier with it for under 1200I also like the inverters too. Jamlit bought a sweet precision tig unit from Lincoln recently. I think its a lot for the money. Cant beat that deal for brand newGood luck weld it like you own it
Reply:new more than likely if i could get a good deal on a used that would be cool as wellI'd love to get a syncrowave or a precision but I want something small that I can haul around because I do a lot of work away from the shopFire Power FP160 migHarbor Freight 165 amp tig w/ foot pedalLincoln AC 225Victor O/A
Reply:Watch ebay. I seen a Lincoln Invertec 160-T that went for a 1,000.00 dollars and it came with a foot pedal. I am personally a Miller fan but I think the Lincoln Invertec 160-T is a little better then the Maxstar. Might want to check it out. I just got the Lincoln PT225 and love it. You are going to love a tig.Good luck on your new purchaseMiller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.

Reply:The HTP 160 is a nice machine. it has foot pedal, hf start, pulse and post flow. And will run on 110 or 220. I liked it because all the adjustments were analog. Dials for everything. Very easy to adjustI uograded from the 160 to the 201. If I hadnt wanted to do alum I would still be using the 160.http://www.htpweld.com/products/tig_welders/tig160.htmlmm135HTP Invertig 201 With water cooler9" Southbend LatheLots of hand tools. |
