Ss bbq ?

I went to a scrap/recycle yard and found some SS 50 gallon drums. They'd make great BBQ or smokers. Trouble is, they weigh about 70 lbs @ $2/lb.That's the lowest price for SS I've seen there but still a bit much for initial cost. Reply:There were about 10 of 'em. 4 on the ground and only one was dented. They had irregular shaped holes cut out of the top. Reply:what does one use a SS 55 drum for? ive only used the metal and plastic onesI break things for a living...
Reply:My guess is they're steel drums that used to contain an oil-based stain.  But it all got used up and now they're stain-less steel drums.Thank you, I'll be here all week!

Reply:I have a SS 55 gal drum and it weighs the same as a steel 55 gal drum. I don't think its close to 70 lbs. I wanted to do the bbq with it about five years ago, and never started it. I got lucky, a friend's uncle owns a drum/IBC tote sales and cleaning bus. This drum is used but cleaned, so its like new. And the price was right, Free!
