I was curious if anyone on here knew anything on the Eastwood Mig 175, I have been looking around and it seems I can get this welder pretty reasonable compared to name brand welders. I was going to get a Hobart handler 140, but I think I would like to get a 220 volt welder and do not really want to spend more money on a name brand 220 volt welder. My question is does anyone know if this is a decent welder and will I be able to get consumables for it down the road? Thanks
Reply:you get what you pay for. i have no problem getting anything for my miller 175 that is 8 yrs old. in 8 years getting consumables will not be a problem since it will have probably died years before. do a search of the horror stories of others that have ventured there before you.225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw
Reply:have seen some good comments on the older eastwood stuff but from what I have read, the new stuff is junk....Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:While my Eastwood 135 mig doesn't compare to my Thermal Arc 300GMS power supply pushing wire through my Hobart Portafeed 17, it's not a terrible welder.  I haven't had to test its limits because of my big welder, but it fills the niche of a compact 110v welder that I can take anywhere in the trunk of my commuter car.  As far as consumables, it uses Tweco compatible tips, nozzles, and diffusers.  The gun on the 135 uses 11 series tips and 21 series nozzles.  I'm not sure what size the gun is on the 175.  A significant question is how durable are the transformer, contractor, and drive motor.  The three year warranty should cover those things.  cricman
Reply:Also I ran into a Lincoln 180 hd what does any body know about these?
Reply:Have a blue Eastwood 175 , has worked like a champ for about 2 years now . Basically only run .023 and once in a while o30 . Would not hesitate to buy another .

Reply:Like JBMPRODS stated getting what you pay for . Buy it once and your done.  Look for a used miller or lincoln  if new is too expensive.  In the long run you will be money ahead and have a reliable quality product  that will perform consistently  and be easier for you to use and get answers to any questions.   I would save for a real machine.  Definitely,  the 220  volt and you are done.
