Reply:When brazing, grind the area to be brazed. Brazing works by capillary action in which the base metal "opens up" and the brazing flows into the micropores and scale and rust severly limits this. Reply:One thing I could not make out completely. Did you braze a butt joint? I ask because brazing is backwards from welding. When welding its butt where you can and lap where you must. When brazing its lap where you can and butt where you must. Its part of the capillary action RaptorDuner mentioned.
