Hey Guys,What do you think about the remotes that go on the TIG torch handle?I have a Synchrowave 250 and a project is comming up that, due to it's size and awkward assembly, will probably require one. I've never used one before and hate the idea of blowing $200 bucks on it. I've also thought about trying to make one but my electronic skills are lacking. Anybody know somebody wanting to sell one (cheap!) or of a source of plans or instructions?TIA,Doug

Reply:I learned on a tig torch with a dial remote on the handle. It works decently for steel work. If you are doing aluminum, most prefer the bump switches. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:I only use finger controls, the nature of my work. There are two that work like my foot petal. One is refered to as east/west. Were the dial rotates across the handle. The other is refered to as north/south. The dial on that one operates in the direction in line with the handle. I prefer the north/south. I grip the torch handle and operate the dial with my thumb, again in line with the handle. But, I am one of those left handed freaks of nature. Your LWS should be able to order both of them for you, play with them in the store and buy the one you like. |
