air testing unit

Reply:Pretty sure he means the flanges are normally set up with the centre of two holes lined up with the centreline of the main spool body instead of the centre of one hole.Hard to explain.
Reply:danielw has it right.  If the pipe is in stands the pipe is leveled and flanges are normally set with pins or bolts in the top two bolt holes and a torpedo set across the pins and leveled, then tacked on top. Then the flange is checked for plumb and tacked. Then the pipe is rolled 1/4 turn and the flange is again checked for plumb and tacked.  If the pipe cannot be rolled then a square may be used to square the flange with the pipe."Two holing"  assures that a section of  pipe with flanges will line up with whatever component it has to mate to when it is fabricated on the ground.  Layouts can get pretty complex with multiple flanges and all must align properly when lifted into position.  If not, a red faced fitter will have some fast talking to do!"The man of great wealth owes a peculiar obligation to the State, because he derives special advantages from the mere existence of government."  Teddy RooseveltAmerican by birth, Union by choice!  Boilermakers # 60America is a Union.
