I drew this up and went to my friends shop to roll the inch and a half pipe up. I used General Cadd to supply the length of the pipes and the height of the circular segments formed by the bowed pipes, and we just rolled them until we hit the marks. The fellow the chair is for, is also a friend and he is going to hang a basket or seat from it. I could not believe how strong it was. I did a few chin ups and am sorry to say I am weighing in at 218 these days. Ha-ha. It did not move or flex.I added in an approximation of a hanging basket that might be hung under it. Just so you could get an idea. I have to brush it up and make it look nice yet. I also have to weld on a little piece of metal to hang the basket from. But figured I would let you guys have a look.  Seems a little unbalanced, but that is what he wanted. Sincerely,William McCormick
Reply:That is some cool looking work. It's not one of "those" chairs, if you know what I mean, is it?I met a contractor some time ago who was doing a remodel that included the master bed room, he had to add some bracing and an eye bolt to the rafters to hang one of "those" chairs. Every one he told the story to had the same question, "Where's the stripper pole go?"Nice job.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]

Reply:It is going in the corner of the patio. So I did not want the legs to be something you could trip over.        Sincerely,             William McCormick

Reply:I will ask my friend what type and brand it is. He has a lot of European bending equipment. Not sure if the roller was a European model though. It is powered, for the rolling, or moving of the pipe through the rollers, and the top roller is powered to come down on the work and start the bend. It has a CNC type controller, a rocker pedal, to send the pipe one way or the other. And you can come down on the pipe in very small increments using the program. But even the tiniest increment does a lot sometimes. You can only bend a 32" diameter in that pipe diameter. It is hard Japanese Stainless steel, work hardened. Very hard stuff. He did it in small increments it seems to work out best. Rollers are funny though it is almost like art, not science.        Sincerely,             William McCormick

Reply:Oh yea they great, we have done some wild stuff with them over the years. I wish I had taken more pictures. It beats a hand roller. Ha-ha.But you really do have to get into it and know the machine. Definitely an ART.He has the adjustable bar roller deflector so you can roll springs. I just haven't come up with a project that I can use a spring for yet. Ha-ha.        Sincerely,             William McCormick

Reply:You probably should do a safety test with the anticipated working load Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I think marriage is like anti Viagra for women. You know the old saying, why pay for the cow when you are getting the milk for free? Well I think women figure why be submissive when they have a slave. With hundreds of Sheriffs just waiting to put him in the can if he does not serve her every whim.        Sincerely,             William McCormick
Reply:This thread is getting downright dangerous!Well Zap, in your case it might just be your religeous devotion to swabbing things down with acetone or some other solvent.William, as an old man let me just tell you straight up, there is no way in hell any man ever born can figure out what's running through a woman's mind, let alone make logic of it.  Women don't come from the planet Earth.  You're damn well right on the Sheriff waiting to lock a man up for failing whim fulfillment!  Like BuzzardBreath says, you're driving along the superslab and see a car with a flat tire and 5 women standing around it with their phones to their ears, won't be a one of them calling AAA, they're all calling a girlfriend to ask if she knows how to talk that tire back round, or some damn fool man to drive out there and fix the tire in the hope he'll be getting laid.
Reply:Geez!!!!!!!!!  I almost forgotWilliam..........when testing, be sure to include the weight of ALL ACCESSORIES!!!!!  We wouldn't want a flawed test Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I wanted to show anyone that wonders about the color of the weld on stainless steel. Something that many get worried about. Here are two welds done on the same part. One weld is golden in color the other weld is more blue. The reason is that the blue one started on a hot part. I had no choice really unless I wanted to let it cool wire brush down the whole area to be welded, and reheat it. It makes no sense to do that. And might even be worse for the metal. But you can see there is a color difference. The weld puddle is also a little sluggish on the second weld. It tends to want to walk left and right a bit more. Nothing you cannot over come. But it freaks a lot of people out. This is the first weld. This is the second weld. These are the same welds cleaned up.Here some pictures of it finished up. This apparent resting was staged. And does not depict the reality.        Sincerely,             William McCormick
Reply:Given all the directions this thread has taken, I just can't resist.William did you have to sit inthat brand new chair in those filthy work clothes?  You do realize that new upholstry wasn't meant to be treated that way.  Speaking of treatment did you pick up the can of Skotchguard and spray that chair?  At least you could have tossed a slip cover on it.ANDWhen are you going to get rid of all that junk in the driveway?  The rest of the neighbors don't have junk all over.
Reply:My friend the owner, and I were taking turns sitting in it, to find a height to hang it. My backside is spotless. I rarely sit down. All the neighbors would be unhappy if we got rid of all the equipment we use to make or fix stuff for them.        Sincerely,             William McCormick
Reply:That is bee's wax on my knees. I could not lay that thing down to polish it. So I had to kneel and when you do you get bees wax on your knees.        Sincerely,             William McCormick
