Another WTF at the supply house

So I needed a few parts for an up coming job, went to the supply house and got them. To my surprise the 6" Victaulic gaskets cost more than the 6" weld caps Then I realized the vic gaskets were USA made and the caps were from MalaysiaDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:victaulic pricing tries to compete with other systems by combining theoretically lower skills with more expensive parts..so a guy who runs a roll groover  (train him in a day )  and  uses an expensive fitting  gets paid less than a skilled pipewelder who does the job with a  cheap malaysian cap ..
Reply:LMAO, I picked up the vic gaskets for the HVAC guy I am doing the job for. The caps were 23 bucks, vic gaskets were 25 bucks.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Kinda of scary...and sad. Our scrap steel (worn out foreign cars) is shipped over seas and recycled into something else shipped back here and sold back to us for so little as compared to items made here.
