Reply:They are good starting practice. Some look a little cold. What wire, speed, and heat are you using? The 180 welders like .023, .030, and .035 wire. They don't have the power to really do a good job with .040 wire. I usually run mine with .030 wire, and the heat on 4-6, and the speed about 5.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:Practice practice practice........Clean metal a little better, including where you place the ground clamp. Tighten the little nut on the ground clamp, mine works loose over time. Experiment with different settings. Go to the library and get a book on arc welding. Lots of good info for starters.Burn thru a few rolls of flux core then get a bottle of 75/25 and you will be amazed.Junk yards have scrap metal piles. Ask nice and you will have lots of practice pieces for cheap.RDLincoln PowerMig 180cVictor O/ABandaids and aspirinI don't know what I don't know!? |
