WANT welding table, buy or build?

Reply:If you're going to be welding items that'll fit on the table, then the price is hard to beat.If you're going to be welding larger/heavier items, then you'd have to go larger, or custom.
Reply:Build.that one will be ok for holding stuff up, but it limits your clamping ability, it wont maintain a flat surface, and you wont be able to beat on anything on it. Most poeple end up making attachments for vices grinders, benders, rollers, etc. that table would not have that ability. Thus requiring more space, and more work surface to hold those items. Build your own that will fit the space that you have and allow you the most versitilty possible.There are no problems. There are only solutions. Reply:If you need a small, portable table with someone limited maximum load, consider the strong hands one.  It has some wheels on, pretty solid feeling, and has slots which are really handy.  The only thing I don't like is that I think I've warped mine a tiny bit.  I wish the top was a gauge or two heavier.  Its not bad, but if need to restrain some aluminum, I don't think its enough.If you need a setup/fixturing table, get something made with thick plate steel (make your own or hit craigslist).Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:If you don't have the means to build a proper table and are determined on buying one, take a look at the Arc Station series of welding benches made by miller. At leas they have thicker tops that the one posted and if you go with the X pattern you will be able to use clamps in the middle of it.Mikel
Reply:That table looks cheap and weak.  Plus, it's yellow zinc plated and I'd hate to have any plating on the surface of my welding tables.
