I went to the local scrap yard and thought I'd found some great welding leadsHave rod holder and work clamp. But they are Aluminum not copper.Probably 3/0 and each 75 feet long.Worth anything for welding?
Reply:High voltage power lines are made of aluminum so... why not? I am no expert so I would wait for more opinions from people who may know better... just in case.Mikel
Reply:They roll up nice in big arm length loops.  The connection at the ground clamp will likely fray more often.  You can probably get some pretty intresting comments having your rod holder on such a large diameter lead.  I had some and may still have a piece somewhere not sure how they vary , I recall they had fine wires inside had a good outer sheath material that didn't give you black hands when rolling them up or seem to be a media for organic growth like some of the stuff I currently use.  Most likely quite a few variations out there.fran
Reply:Thanks GuysYes, they have many very fine wires and a thick sheath.Reading on the net it looks like they conduct at about 60% of copper.I don't really need them but I'll see what he wants for them.
