Here's my latest smoker project I just completed. This was built specifically for a gentleman from...guess where....Texas. Of course it burns charcoal or wood, has tuning plates in the bottom for heat regulation and a removable charcoal grate for just grilling. He has used it a few times now and said it works great, now I just need to make one for myself. Let me know what you all think! Attached Images
Reply:awesome work! I'm about to start a pig roaster mounted on a trailer for fun with the help of my cousin. I dont think it'll look as nice as that thing though.Millermatic 135Syncrowave 250
Reply:That looks great. I have been debating whether to build one similar to what you have or buy a Primo grill/smoker. What is the ballpark cost on materials if you don't mind me asking?
Reply:I spent just over $600 on materials. Buying one is good, but being able to say "i built that" is just way better in my book, that is if it works properly...
Reply:Apeirce , i have built many pits but never a smoker , can you explain the purpose of the plate in the bottom? It looks like it seals off the bottom , is this used when you are grilling and dont want to loss heat thru the smoke box ? Hopefully this aint toooo dumb of a question. Thanks!
Reply:They are tuning plates, they don't go quite to the other end. This allows the heat and smoke to to be directed across the length of the smoker before escaping up thru one of the stacks on either end keeping a much more even temp without the typical hot spot above the fire box. The are removed when the charcoal grilling grate is in use.
Reply:Any pics of the inside of the fire box ?? Thanks

Reply:Nice work apierce79. I wish I could understand why someone would want their state incorporated into a custom piece of art like that. But then again, I am from the rectum of the USA.If the side door on that Snap-On top box is black, I had the same set. I believe the number was KR537??? Now I have the KR1000 top and bottom weenie wagon. Sorry, useless info."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Trust me Stick-man, it was hard not to hang that Texas logo upside down...i started to put one on the inside of the lid like that just for laughs....didn't want to have to grind it off when he came to pick it up though...
Reply:thats nice

Reply:I like it a lot. I am currently working on planning mine out. How did you figure the size of the "fire box" on the side?Nothing is fool-proof, to the substantially talented fool!Help me, I can't drink all of this beer myself.
