Im a beginner welder. i will be attending a welding technical school after highschool. im actually on an internship for it because i was really interested in welding because i got to a vocational school and we did some fooling around with welding machine doing like chairs and stupid stuff like that. But i get out of school after the first half of my day is over and i go on over to the welding place. Im actually going to go to the place im getting my internship done at. I found out that i was good at welding. the full class is 7 hours a day for 6 days a week for 6 weeks. and im only there for 3 hours a day for 4 days a week for 5 weeks and i passed almost all my coupon test. no parosity what so ever in any of them and they bended perfectly. only my FCAW had some porosity but that wasnt because i welded wrong, it was because somewhere the regulator screwed up and didnt keep the oxygen out. At first me and the teacher thought it was because i didnt clean the stinger out but then. when i grinded where the porosity was i was going to start welding again and then i was like i dont know and i went over and checked the regulator and it had all mist in it! so he fixed it and then my re welded it and the welds were normal again. the only coupon im waiting on is my SMAW one. i have to cut the test plate tommorow and get it bent. i can post pics here tommorow and put them up i gotta get them from school cause i brought them back from the internship and put them in my locker.is there anything i will need as a beginner welder other than the gear. i have all of that already. the teacher suggested a little manaual of the standards and stuff. but i was wondering if i needed more.
Reply:Its a cool story man, at the end i totaly forgot that you start your post with ''Questions''.Buying stuff depends on you, if you are rich buy everything you want, you'll find some of those tools usefull one day in the future, and if you are average/poor use what the school supply and wait to see what kind of job you'll get after, you can make a better choice of tools!Calculator > Bevel Square

Reply:you'll fare better with better english skills. Resumes require it. that being said. If you've got the basics I'd hold off on buying more till you know what you're going to be doing. Or just buy stuff that you need for your own uses. nothing huge until you know what you're going to be doing. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger |
