As some may of noticed it's been a while since I've posted. The combination of trying to get a addition built onto the shop, main helper quitting, #1 part time helper unable to come in one day a week, and a series of things breaking down have kind of eaten into my time. The heat on top of that has made it to where I was to tired to do much more than scan the new posts on here.   Anyway here's a update on some of the things that I've managed to accomplish. First off is some stuff gotten at auction the end of last month. My number one customer had a auction where he sold off most of the stuff that I work on for him so it's not all a good thing. I did manage to snag a few good deals at the auction though. First is a Quincy 350 air compressor. While I've not got a immediate need it will make a good backup in case my main compressor goes down. I got it along with a Milwaukee drill press stand (the kind that takes a hand drill) and a few other misc things for $42.50.   Next is a Dake 50 ton hydraulic press with 3ton arbor press on the side. You can see the before and after pics. I do plan on a couple of slight modifications to it in the future but it's completely usable as is. I got it for $100.  Last is a kind of strange deal. I managed to get a 48 International grain truck at the auction. My plan was to turn it into a trailer. I've been trying to get a dumping trailer like that to haul things like sand and gravel for the concrete I'm fixing to pour as well as haul trash and junk off or simply to take scrap to the dealer. I barely got back to the shop from the auction when I had a hand of one of my neighbors show up and ask if I wanted to sell it. He had been wanting it but being legally blind and without anyone to drive him hadn't made it to the auction in time. He really likes old grain trucks. I hadn't really wanted to have to cut the old truck up since it was in fairly decent shape considering but can't afford to insure a truck for the sporadic use that I have for one. I called him and after telling him that I was wanting to make a trailer out of it he said that he had one already turned into a trailer. Thus we made a trade. It saved me a lot of work and materials on the gooseneck as well as on other things. I did have to completely redo the lights and I cut the sides down to a level more useful to me and make a tail gate more in keeping with my uses. I had a old hydraulic pump that had come off a truck lift which I was able to mount which I can hook into the heavy duty plug I have on the back of my truck. I also changed the trailer hitch over to the style that I run and made it adjustable. In such manner I managed to get a very usable trailer for the $525 I paid for the truck plus the amount for the lights. Reply:Very nice scores, Irish!! Sounds like ya got quite a bit of good stuff for a little $$.       I've always wondered why, when folks have a hyd dump trailer, they don't rig up a single action cyl and a 3 way valve on that landing gear w/ a heavy expansion spring to retract it? Or if the lift has a double action then the spring wouldn't be needed and just install a double action cyl. along w/ two 3 way valves.                                                      MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
