My daughter's pet tarantula (I know, I know) died so I made her this one out of ball bearings, a cut off bolt ground to shape, and some steel rod. Rusting it with salt water baths cuz my theory is, rust makes it look kinda fuzzy and the real one was disgustingly fuzzy.I'll give it to her this week. Attached Images(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:Thats great!
Reply:You know what works great for aging steel?Mix salt with vinigar in a spray bottle and spray down a sculpture. let it sit for a few days and clean the surface rust off with a fine grit steel wool! It'll leave a nice Patina! Apply some gun oil and it'll bring out the contrast between the dark spots and the light spots which weren't hit with the spray!
