First pics are of forms used to hand bend tube, and tube. Tube used was 3/4, 1/2, and 3/8 inch 4130 .058 wall mil spec. I turned tube in lathe and used sanding screen to remove mill scale. 1/16 gold tung, 1/16 80sd2 filller, syncrowave set on 150 and used foot feeder for required amps. Not as steady as I was when younger, and could see better. Still my best was not nearly as good as a few here.Banshee + 16, or ctc= 35 inch.last pic shows new al drag race axle and brg carrier to be usedPeter Attached Images

Reply:Wow - nice work. Is the rear axle eccentrically mounted for chain adjustment, or just massive bearings?

Reply:I'm very curious about your bending technique...--did you fill & tamp sand in tubes to prevent kinking?--did you use a cheater bar / tube to help during the bend?--any other hints for us wannabee tubing benders?Thx, zip.
Reply:Very nice work for sure, very even bends and of course nice beads as always. Im curious as to why there are no cross members tying the two sides together along the length of the swing arm. It appears the axle, housing and bearings and the pivot axles and bearings are really the only things resisting twisting force on the swingarm. Those 2 arches down the middle don't add any resistance to twisting force on the swing arm from the axle being pushed up on one side and down on the other on un-even terrain. I would think some horizontal cross braces top and bottom are in order, and maybe some x-bracing in the vertical plane as well, one set at each end near the pivots and a set or two somewhere in the middle.Last edited by DesertRider33; 09-05-2010 at 12:31 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Looks great to me too Peter!I didn't see a welding jig, do you have to bore the bearing clamps or just polish and it's good to go? If your sticking all that together freehand that's really strong fabbing.Matt
