Reply:Do you know what type it is? I don't see a type number imprinted on it, but it looks as if the blue band is part of the color code; is there a color on the holder end or on the flux too? Are you sure it's not just a giant SPARKLER? [Where are the good colors when you really need them?]

Reply:im not sure what it was. the guy told me it was a 7018 but there were no numbers on it. only the company name "weld mold" their website seems to be down. id like to order one just to have it. he said it requires about 1500 amps. i didnt measure the rod diameter but my magis eyeballs said it was 3/4" diameter. weighed a ton too. hahaonly thing worse than an ugly woman is an ugly weld

Reply:why? the linked post about the guy using that is pretty cool but why not run a SAW, those rods are so big that if the 1500 amps is right then you have a pretty killer SAW and not much more equipment. no way you could hold that by hand plus anything you would weld with that would have to be pre-heated. sorry but i am always the guy that asks WHY
Reply:Ya might need one of these to power the welder.............
