What size torch's do you guys use? I am new with tig welding a few friends run smaller torch's I am running syncrowave 350LX with weldcraft cs410 torch. my friends run dynasty 300 and 20 torch the other has syncrowave 250 and 20 torch . both say my torch is to big and i would do better with small torch lighter, easier to handle. I wounder if i just need to get use to it or is a smaller torch the answer. well let me have some input.
Reply:i have a "26" air cooled torch and picked up a friends water cooled 20.got to say it felt nimble compared to my 26i have to wrap my arm round the power cable to lessen the weight on my hand.but...you do get used to it.G
Reply:the only way i can weld small stuff with bigger torches is to put a big *** cup on their and hold on to that. at work i have never used anything but a wp-20 but in my "hobby job" i use some massive air cooled thing and it sucks big time for doing the super thing cromly we work with.
Reply:What amperages do you usually deal with? I'll use a WP-17 with just about anything I can get away with.
Reply:i never weld anything over 150 amps, its all the shop torch will take being air cooled. i love the feel of it, its a miller 180 tig, ill get specs when i go back to the shop, but im mostly doing small scrap welds, working with small pieces of aluminum and steel.I break things for a living... |
