I have researched both the lincoln precision 225 tig package and the miller syncrowave 200  package, both about the same price a few dollars differance, Im sure both are good machines and quality . what is general opinion for tig welding, aluminium, steel and stainless as a hobby/small business machine, which one is more user friendly to operate and what experiences has anyone had with either machine? thanxs for looking
Reply:My $.02, I prefer Miller machines and customer service in regards to TIG units.  Realistically, look at what's most common in your area.  If it's all red, then you're better off buying red for ordering parts/serviceability and vice versa.  If there's a mix, then it's up to you.
Reply:Both Lincoln and Miller are supported quite well in my area , but , I went with the Miller .I found the pulse feature was easier to repeatedly setup on the Miller and I liked the overall menu system better too . I have never had the opportunity to actually try the Lincoln , but I've been using the Miller now for 6 months or so and it has either met or surpassed my expectations in every regard . 1/4" aluminum is the upper limit , and if you are doing any amount of this , you might want to consider a water cooled torch . At this amperage , the torch gets hot fast ( true for either machine ) . Ultimately , you probably can't go wrong with either .Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:I have the Lincoln and it's been working out great!
Reply:Lincoln - because guys that buy Miller actually wear pink skirts  Just kidding. I was very happy with my Lincoln mig, so I stayed Lincoln and have been very happy with the tig also. Miller and Lincoln are both heavily supported in my area so it just came down to preference. When you're talking Lincoln or Miller, you really can't go wrong.Fire!, Fire! Reply:If you're a hobbiest I think you'll be happy with either. Personally I prefer Miller for TIG. And Lincoln for MIG. The only comment I have on the syncrowave is beware the operator controls. Both the foot pedal and the miller thumb wheel I've used have gone screwy in a short period (like 5 years of moderate use) I hate getting flashed....
Reply:thanxs for the feed back, i saw online lincoln has a 2 year extended warranty for a total of 5 years on the whole machine, not including torches and stuff like that, ill see if and what the cost is on that, I have a lincoln mig and tombstone but heard such great stuff about miller tigs I didnt want to invest the $$$ till hearing from an experienced group that has used both..
Reply:I'm sure Lincoln is top shelf but my first engine drive (miller bobcat 225) had close to 1000 hrs. and was several months past the three year warranty. The idle controller went out and I called them for a price. He checked the registration and saw that I had several miller machines and sent me the part for free. That alone makes me loyal to miller. Make sure you register your products when you buy them new. Reply:I finally went with the lincoln precision 225 tig runner kit...it should come next week and time will tell....
