Need to repair crack in brass

I have a brass part on my pool filter (not sure but I think it's cast) that has a crack on it and I would like to know if I can mig or tig it and if so what gas and filler.  I have some stargon, C25 and pure Argon gas.   I need a strong fix.  I don't have acetalyne but have some MAPP gas from Home D that I guess I could braze.  What would be the strongest fix.Thanks,
Reply:I would clean it prep it and use SILVALOY and Argon to TIG it. The SILVALOY seems to work with copper and Brass with MAPP. Ive been playing with SILVALOY , Helium and TIG on steel. Works for me. But Im a renegade weldor so lets see what an xpert suggests.

Reply:My 1st thought is it looks exactly like a split when something freezes. That or the threaded piece bottomed out and applied too much pressure to the end.  If so, you'll probably have the same issue again unless you solve the underlying problem..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:the piece is over 40 years old and I think the inside rubber gasket was leaking and I probably over extruded  the screw too far which put excessive  pressure on the part when I pushed down on it to close it and it cracked.  Definitely my fault and not caused by freezing.
