I uploaded a video using a BoreRepair BOA 308 borewelding machine. This is a low alloy casting that shows up mis-machined from time to time. The power supply is Lincoln Powermig 300MP, the wire is .035" E70-S3, gas is C25.  This machine runs well in the 125-135 amp range and for this 3.5" bore 125amps and 18volts works  well. The wire feed speed for this usually runs 220-250 depending on stickout. The video starts showing the borewelder running for 2-3 minutes with some footage sped up in the middle, the start sequence is placed at the end.Anyone new to mig welding should pay attention to the travel speed and bead shape. In this case the travel  is a bit slow to reduce penetration and mixing, it also helps "temperbead".[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwmDjK-FaWQ[/ame]Matt
Reply:That bore welder is SLICK.   Is it permanently mounted to that frame or is it field portable?I take it you adjust bore size by altering the angle on the gun head?Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Nice machine. I ran a submerged arc crankshaft welder for a bunch of years, it layed perfect beads. Maybe thats why my free hand welding is not so great! I know that although the machine is doing the welding, the operator has to "dial it in". Seems like you got it.PeterEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back
Reply:Nice MM, Thanks for posting it.So do you start in the bore's center and then feed each way, or do you start at one end and make a single pass? If you start at an open end, do you use a "dummy" pipe to dial-in and start the feed?Good Luck
Reply:Very nice machine......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

ThanksMattThe machine was a Peterson, I knew the man from Houston that designed it, he sold the rites to Peterson. We bought it in 78 and its still being used in my brothers shop.PeterEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back
