Hey All,..I tried a bit of 'Google Sketchup' on my own but 'failed miserably', so I'm looking for advice on a Dog Kennel needed for a Grooming Salon (written, napkin, whatever). The Kennels in question are for LARGE dogs and med-small dogs. No bottom is neccessary as they sit on a Vinyl flooring but they do have to be movable (wheels) and not 'too heavy'. The units that I'll be replacing are made from 'Old', thick round Galvanized fence posts, Heavy fencing wire, etc and are Big, Bulky and quite simply a PITA.I need two (2) different Sizes x 3 units each and there are a few specifics that need to be taken into consideration:Approximate 'Outside' Dimensions of Holding cages: A) 40"L x 52"W x 46"H B) 40"L x 22"W x 34"H-Construct: Steel or Aluminum ,although Steel would likely be MUCH cheaper, I'd go with Aluminum if I could find some 'decently priced' lengths.. No bottoms are neccessary, but will need wheels so they can be moved around. Dogs will have to go in the front through a swinging opening that will swing both to and fro... Catches or Latches (obviously) so the dogs don't get out.. Cages should be able to be taken apart so that they can be cleaned 'properly' every couple of months.-Safety: The cages must be such that they have 'Good Air Flow' but not made with materials so light that thry can be chewed through (chicken wire or heavy wire similar in nature). Wheels must such that they don't pull the frame up 'too high' thus letting a dog put their 'muzzles' more that a couple inches (or at all) under the cages frame. There can't be any 'loose' ends or wires that might stick out that could catch on the dogs skin or hair.Any advice is very welcomed!Cheers,Miller Diversion 165120 amp Buzz BoxVictor Oxy/Ace Oxy/LPGSmith "Little" Oxy/LPGHypertherm Powermax 30Lot's of Misc. tools n' crap....
Reply:For starters i would think that you would want Aluminum or stainless.... With how often the area will be washed and the chances of urine are. Or plastic (but we don't deal with that here)Why not the kennels that the box box stores sell? I know that is what my groomer uses. She stackes the smaller kennels ontop of the bigger ones for use of storage space.Ill try and find some time to draw something up for you

Reply:Take a look at Shore-Line http://www.shor-line.com/index.php/p...etail/577.html I have owned a vet clinic and they have top shelf equipment. Two things to consider are that dogs should not see the dog next to them and that there is a special cleaner we used to wash down the runs. I think it would kill any paint job. You also want to use square stock. Round stock the dogs love to bit and pull on. You might include a way to hold the blow dryer. They don't need to be about 4 1/2 feet high by about 30 inches wide. I would used a galvanized panel for the sides and fence panel from Tractor Supply to make the doors. You don't need a top, but it has to have to be big enough not to tip over since it is going to be on wheels. My Gear is:Two Miller Thunderbolt 225Millermatic 211Miller Spectrum 875 PlasmaMiller Spot WelderLincoln SA-200
Reply:Can you make the enclosure so the sides are Pickets instead of Wire?Anyhoo, just an ideer but since you mentioned that these need to be able to be broken down for Cleaning how about using Nurail connectors for the cornershttp://www.nurail.com/elbows/9-6-sid...ree-elbow-1in/Make 4 walls/panels and a roof with just enough Pipe extended to fit in to the Corner connectors. Everything is held in place with Allen screws.Common Pipe Sizes.as far as wheels- do they move them around often?Seems like a Flat 4 wheel dolly would work- just pick up the Kennels and slide the dolly under to move them.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
