Reply:The stringers need to be closer together. It should have a smoother face and not have noticeable grooves (wagon wheels) between them. Nice uniformity though. On our t-plates we did a root and then 2 stringer caps with 1/8" 7018 rods, what is this?
Reply:(6010)Root_HotPass(7018)_2 stringer cover pass(7018) _3 stringer cap(7018) Takes like 3-1/2 hrs to finish out all 4 sides!

Reply:our coupons were 6 inch long. 15 passes on each side using 6010 electrodes then we cut it with wellsaw to see if we passed or failed. had to do flat, horizontal, vertical, overheadfrom what i know they should be overlaped more, your last pass should be the only one you can see all of and the rest should be half way covered up. not a expert thoughLast edited by jonston18; 09-30-2010 at 07:09 PM.
Reply:my Maxstar didnt burn 6010 very well. Something about it wasnt right...Tombstone is best bet for practicing stick. As said above, stringers should blend better. with no undercut, valleys or inclusions. They are nice and straight though, thats half the battle for plenty of people....Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120
