I was welding on a tower today. Just took one pic. I am sending a copy to my customer.WPS calls for 1/2" fillet vertical up. I made 2 passes, 1/8" 8018 125 amps. I opened the 50 lb can this morning.Plate on left is 1" grade 50. Reply:Yup, a 1/2" fillet is pretty darn big and a LOT of filler.1/4" stick at 300-350 amps maybe?7018 or 8018? Your title says 70 but the posting said 80. Not that it matters a whole lot for the fillet size. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:moonrise, 1/8" 8018 125 amps. I can't weld vertical up with anything bigger than 5/32.I burned 15 lbs yesterday. Those ups go slow. I get about an inch from one rod on the second pass. There are 3 starts and stops in that picture.NO duane, no snow! Just sunshine and a little breeze.David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
