ive been toying with the idea of lease or buy oxy acet cyl and wow what an answer i got a local store told me that he wouldnt even exchange cyl unless i had a reciept and proof of ownership  the next store says bring one in not a problem do a straight exc im in a delima the smaller cyl you can own the bigger ones you can lease the full size ones you can buy but some people lease em and 6 months down the road sell them as their own as screw the lease its sometimes a mess what to domiller maxstar 150   hobart handler 210 w mig conversion hobart 250 arc force plasma cutter    boston ind cutting torch miller performance auto darkening helmet milwalkee 14in chop saw 10,000 watt generator huge drill press and industrial band saw
Reply:I dont know about the rest of the world but on Long Island New York cash is king, bring in any cylinder from where ever you found it and it will be exchanged, if its out of hydro you pay $30.00 for retest and whatever the gas cost that your filling. because if 1 guy doesnt fill it thewre are 10 others that will so noone wants to loose the business...
Reply:WOW exact opposite here in WV.  None of the suppliers will even exchange with you unless you can prove you own or lease from them. Then if dealing with the route driver they want to fill & return your bottle so they don't get stuck with the recert charge eventually.    There are a few bootleggers that have tanks leased just to exchange with the general public, but they nearly double the price of the gas.I looked into purchasing tanks & figured out it would take nearly 15 years to come out on owning as opposed to leasing. At least for the big bottles I use.  I guess it's different from supplier to supplier. Mine charges $85.00 per tank 5 years. However I can get as many bottles as I want on 1 lease as long as I have a charge account.  The catch is if I don't exchange the additional bottles within 30 days I am charged apx $7.00 demurage (rent) on them.It took a couple years to get things worked out to the point I rarely pay rent.  I have 3 OX, 3 Acet, 2 CO2, & 1 argon leased.   I keep 11 OX, 4 Acet, 5 CO2 & 1 argon in the racks.  I realise none of this helps the fellas that just need 2-3 bottles.  My advice is price the entire package tank lease, gas price & most of all service without hastle.  With my supplier the price is the same at the store or delivered. Their lease is a bit more than the other stores but gas in the bottles is less. The real clincher is their service can't be beat.   I have on a couple occasions run low before my scheduled delivery. They will hot shot deliver whatever I need without additional service or delivery fees.I guess it's because they are a fairly large independant company. Reply:Another option is to keep your eyes open for the auction sale flyers if you are rural,and then phone the autioneer to confirm a receipt or contract from the owner.Not always has the best outcome.
