I was just looking over the features for the ironman 230 and it says that it puts out 250 amps but it only comes with a 200amp gun. What happens if I try to use 250 amps through that gun? Will it destroy it? Do I have to buy a new gun if I wanna weld thicker metals? Also it doesn't come with any attachments for running .023 wire. Can I buy anything for it to do so? Thanks.
Reply:The gun isn't going to melt down if you exceed 200 amps. Like the machine, the gun has a duty cycle. As long as you pace yourself the will work fine at max output. The machine doesn't come set up to run an .023 wire. Drive rolls, contacts, and the gun liner , if needed, can be purchased through a local welding supply store that sales Hobart or Miller product. They can also be purchase through on-line dealers. The correct Hobart or Miller drive rolls, contact tip , or liner will work.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice |
