I am trying to find out about the "gun" that welds studs to a dent in a body panel,Then a slide puller is hooked to the stud ,and the dent pulled out. "Habor freight "has a heat and weld type gun with the weld-on pins, that pull the dents out..hope i got that one across, to you. I won't use this thing but a few times on a 55 chevy body. Would you buy one?. Any experienced bodymen using/or owning this particular tool...... please help. thanks /bob s
Reply:I have a stud gun that does a good job,bit of a learning curve but does a great job.Mine was about 400.00 all said and done. It is a auto body grade one.
Reply:I do not know about the Harbor Freight one. I have a Uni-Spotter Stud Welder that has come in handy more than once.Very easy to use and with some time and planing it is amazing what you can pull out with it.Last edited by Tundra08; 07-18-2012 at 10:21 AM.Reason: CorrectionMiller Diversion 180Lincoln Mig Pak 5000 HDHypertherm 45Uni-Spotter Stud WelderOxy Set-up with Harris TorchMiller 30FX Arc StationMiller Elite - Hockey Canada Helmet
Reply:They work great. Get one, then sell it after you are done if you don't plan more projects. (I'd keep it.)Old screw-style pullers are only good for removing gaiter seals, not for bodywork. |
