difference between 6010 and 6011? just the amount of carbon? (.10% and .11%?)what do "phases" mean in a welding machine? i see single phase, double phase( i think) and triple phase??with a stick/ t.i.g generator welder... can you hook up gaslines for argon? i imagine you have to if its a t.i.g machine.ill prob add more as they pop to mindthanks a bunch guysjordan

Reply:3-phase uses 3 hots and a ground. Single phase uses 2 hots and a ground. For comparison, 110v is one hot, one ground and a nuetral.6010 is a DC rod. 6011 is AC and DC. They both run nearly the same. I find 6011 is a little smoother than 6010.Typically, self generating (engine drive) stick/tig machines do not have provision for hooking up a shielding gas bottle, as they don't normally have a gas soleniod/valve or any pre-flow or post-flow timer controls. Eternal tig boxes are available that provide gas valve, timers and high frequency start/run. The Miller HF251D1 (available with contactor) is one such box for running a tig torch from an engine drive stick machine, or any stick machine. Without the box, you use a tig torch with a gas valve in the torch and scratch start if the machine doesnt have a lift start feature.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:If I remember correctly, and I don't sometimes, the first 2 #'s are your tensile strength. 60's (6010, 6011, 6013 etc.) meaning it takes 60,000 pounds of power to PULL the steel apart. 70's (7010, 7018, 7024 etc.) meaning 70,000 lbs. The 3rd # designates the welding positions. 1 meaning flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead, or all positions. 2 meaning flat only, and here's where it gets sketchy...maybe horizontal, too? Anyway, the last # designates the type of flux. This is what I remember from classes taken in excess of 25 yrs. ago, so you should probably go to Lincoln at least and find a chart to verify! Reply:Gizzard, on the positions, the 2 is for flat and horizontal, as you suspect. Only rod I can think of in this category that is readily available is 7024, aka jet rod. Great if you wanna fill something up quick in the flat/horiz. I hate the thick black slag though.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
