Im welding mild steel round tubing via miller dynasty 200 dx. i will be unable to use foot pedal should i buy a hand controlled torch? or can i make the welds look good using lift arc? ive welded much stainless before but mild steel tubing is pretty new to me still. any advice on set up pulse, ect. or technique? thanks
Reply:What is the wall thickness of the tubing? Unless its really thin, you should be able to produce a decent looking weld without the remote control. Burn through will be less of an issue with mild steel than it is with stainless.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Reply:its normally .095 or .120 wall. ive been using scratch start the welds look good but not the normal look you get with tig the dimes. looks almost like a real good mig weld.
Reply:I have a finger control. they can be tough to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, they're great. for mobile tig there is no substitute. |
