Lincoln Viking Helmet

Anyone who has this helmet and had problems with the lense. It seems like no matter if the sensitivity is turned up all the way and the setting is at 13 I still seems like it doesn't filter the arc out very well. When I lift my hood up I see a spot like you would see if you just got flashed. I changed the batteries and still the same. Any suggestions?

Reply:The sensitivity has nothing to do with the darkness.  It adjusts how easily the shade changes.  The delay adjusts how long the filter stays dark after the arc stops and the shade is the darkness.  I have a 2450 and the only time I have an issue is when the clear lenses is filthy.  I can't see well unless I lower the shade setting and then I see spots.  A simple swap of a new or clean lense solves that.  I like the Viking much better than any other I've owned or tried.
Reply:Hi all, when I bought my first auto darkening hood to do Tig etc welding I would instinctively close my eyes when I thought the arc was going to flash, a sort of reflex action, but that all change when I went to the plasma welding method and did not need the normal dark arc type hood any more....there is no arc to "flash" you with a plasma welder.Ian.
Reply:Are your sensors getting blocked from seeing the arc lightMy first AD helmet was a jackson master EQC and it would flash me because it has only two sensors on the bottom and they get blocked when doing out of position workOne reason i went to the Digital Elite it has four sensors two top two bottomBut i run mine in X mode which senses the magnetic field of the arc it's self no matter what the amperage or lighting conditions ...it darkens every time the arc is struckBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ??
